Theatrical highlights

Technical Producer, DSA Fringe, Produced and managed all technical elements for Denver School of the Arts trips to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2017 and 2022. Mentored students as they designed and built an original two-part show in 2017: Wall! A New Musical; and the world-premiere of re:ACTION, a musical with songs by Jason Robert Brown in 2022.

Lighting Designer, Freelance, In the Closet (also Scenic Design)(Eli Carpenter, Theatre Row, NYC); Waiting for Obama (Brian Freeland, NYC Fringe); 9 to 5 and 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (Shawn Hann, Denver School of the Arts); Men on Boats (Anita Dashiell-Sparks, USC School of Dramatic Arts); The Diary of Anne Frank (James W. Gruessing, Palos Verdes Performing Arts).

Projection Designer, Cypress College, Designed video for several Dance Concerts as well as many productions for the Theatre Arts Department. Shows include The Rocky Horror Show, Hair, The Laramie Project, and Follies. Secured and installed a full WATCHOUT rig for programming shows and instructing classes.

Scenic Designer, Cypress College, Designed scenery for several Dance Concerts as well as the Theatre Arts production of Mr. Burns: A Post-Electric Play.

Associate Lighting Designer/Lighting Programmer, Modelland, Assisted designer Brian Larsh in creating an immersive walkthrough experience for Tyra Banks’s Smize company. Experience includes several rooms and a collection of performances, triggered with show control and timecode.

Lighting Designer, iskwe at Stanford Live, 2021, Bing Concert Hall. Designed lighting for an immersive experience from exterior lighting through a full concert. Collaborated with artist, venue, and creative team to create a cohesive experience.

Resident Designer, Southern Colorado Repertory Theatre, 2018 & 2019 Seasons. Resident Lighting Designer for the 2018 season: Fly By Night, Evita, God of Carnage. Resident Lighting & Scenic Designer for the 2019 season: Grounded, The Last Five Years, The 39 Steps. Designed six main-stage shows plus staged readings and other events. Secured donation of LED fixtures to company, and upgraded venue infrastructure.

Assistant Designer, Howell Binkley, Grey Gardens, Center Theatre Group, 2016. Assisted Lighting Designer Howell Binkley and Associate Amanda Zieve. Responsibilities included tracking and executing work notes, assisting focus, creating spot sheets, updating drafting and paperwork, and supervising director’s notes and design changes from second preview through opening.

Assistant Technical Manager, Universal Studios Hollywood, 2017-2019. Played essential role in planning and execution of Marquee Events (Grinchmas, Eve) and capital projects (Raptor Encounter, Donkey, Snowball, Grinchmas Tree). Worked closely with vendors, engineering firms, plan checking/building inspectors, and fire inspectors. Supervised and directed logistics, construction, electrical, scenic, and contractors during installs and strikes. Drafted fabrication drawings for complex set pieces and large-scale park-wide events.

Theatre Design Consultant, Schendt Engineering/Trinidad State Junior College, 2019-Present. Began with client-side consultation on potential phased renovation of 250-seat theatre. Expanded role to include full design of lighting, audio, video, and rigging systems. Contracts have been awarded and construction begins soon. Worked in tandem with engineering firm to assure structural and electrical compliance on all elements. Built full 3D CAD model of building from site visit and original plans.

Lead Stage Technician, Disneyland Resort, 2015-Present. Comprehensive work on World of Color nighttime spectacular: general maintenance of all systems (fountains, lighting, lasers, video, audio, automation, robotics). Moved into the development of new processes, documentation, training. Promoted to General Lead for Maintenance: led crews on a daily basis and helped Technical Directors plan and execute major projects. Other work at the Resort included installation of the Jingle Cruise holiday overlay, lighting for special events, illuminated costume pieces for fireworks shows, and permanent installation work on Seasons of the Force and Fantasmic!.

Technical Director & Assistant Production Manager, Viacom, 2019-Present. Managed technical elements of activations at ClusterFest 2019, and after-parties for several premiere events. Worked with vendors, event promoters, sponsors, executives, install crews, and talent management.

House Electrician & Lighting Programmer, Palos Verdes Performing Arts Center, 2015. Setup and tear-down of various events in ballroom & theatre. Collaborated with production staff, directors, choreographers, producers, designers to execute a design or to create a design for the show.

Adjunct Professor, Cypress College, 2021-Present. Projection design for school shows and mentoring of student assistants and technicians. Teaching Projection Design and Theatrical CAD Drafting classes. Secured and installed a full WATCHOUT rig for programming shows and instructing classes.

Guest Artist, Denver School of the Arts, 2017-Present. Technical directed two-part musical in Denver and Edinburgh Fringe Festival, mentoring and chaperoning crew of high school technicians and designers. Designed lighting for a remounted production of 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee at International Thespian Conference, supervising student crew. Designed lighting for 9 to 5 musical, mentoring student assistant designers. For the classroom: planned and led acting students in project-based units of study focusing on lighting design and other aspects of technical theatre; lectured on careers in technical production and themed entertainment; participated in portfolio reviews.

Trainer, Disneyland Resort, 2019-2020. Worked with Safety & Wellness team on rolling out a new Confined Spaces training program. Led practice training sessions during curriculum development and provided feedback for program leaders. Trained various departments, and helped management identify key roles that should be trained first. Spearheaded creation of new Maintenance Training Program for World of Color, including updated curriculum, standard operating guides, as-built system drawings, and new physical teaching aides. Trained two new trainers in the program, and updated existing trainers. Oversaw implementation and refinement of curriculum over several trainees with varied learning styles.

Curriculum Consultant, Trinidad State Junior College, 2019. Worked with small group of educators and industry professionals to recommend a selection of courses to include in the college’s upcoming Associate’s degree program in technical theatre. Helped craft a curriculum that includes fundamentals of lighting, sound, scenery, costuming, and stage management, while also providing a background in theatrical history and text work. Offered insights from the professional perspective and from that of a graduate of a BFA program in the field.
